THE STORYFrom the moment the Fizyta family laid claim to the land that would one day become the Catoctin Breeze Vineyard, they knew they had something special. The mountains. The soil. The picturesque surroundings. What they didn’t realize was that they would have to share this special place with another set of owners. Butterflies. Silently flitting here and there. Sometimes just a few. Often in droves. Always magical. When it came time to create a label suite for their very special wine series these quiet beauties just had to be the stars.

THE SOLUTIONThese aren’t just any butterflies, they’re as much a part of the vineyard as the Fizyta family and everyone who works there. As such, simply featuring butterfly illustrations wasn’t enough. I needed to make a visual connection between the creatures and the wine itself. So I brought the two together. Literally. Inspired by insect specimen boxes, each butterfly and wine opener hybrid is exhibited on a vintage specimen background. A total of five unique labels were produced. Together, they give a whole new meaning to “a flight of wine.”
